08 April 2013

Cultivar in botanical garden

Synonym:

  • Bethelehem Sage

Comment:

The term 'saccharata' means 'sugared' and refers to the sprinkling of white spots on the leaves. The pink flowers often fade to blue with age.

The perianth is UV-white with a UV-dark center. The foliage, stems and sepals are all UV-dark, so the UV-bright flower stands out against its background.
