GaryR
In full spectrum mode, the foveon sensor is well known for producing bright red foliage SOOC, so I was wondering if the Tiffen 47 or 47b might work for SOOC yellows. Tiffen 47 and 47b deep blue filters both produce vivid yellows SOOC on my FS-Sony a7R, but unfortunately on the Sigma FS-DP1x the results are two-tone green/purple images (last photo). With the 80A I was surprised with the increased range of yellow and orange hues coming through. The Tiffen 80A seems to suppress enough of the foveon reds, to allow for more yellow, orange, and even some reds into the mix. Andy Perrin
Well THAT sure woke me up! Yeah, definitely you get a very broad range there. Nice autumn you're having over there...in June. Link to comment
colinbm
This is nice to see you revisit the FS DP1x. The Tiffen 47b seems more like a UV filter ? Link to comment
GaryR
Andy: Yes, these are an eyefull, but I wouldn't expect anything less from the DP1x! The plate-glass windows in the gallery shot, filtered out some of the yellow, which does give it muted look of fall colors. London Art Museum, Fork of the Thames, in London, Ontario. Colin: The 47, 47b and 80A all dip into the UV range, but lots of IR getting through. Still surprised how dark my car windows turned out, with the 47b. Andrea B.
Love the colours in that first one. Off topic question: what is your car in the last photo? It has such nice curves. (I added the word "Sigma" in front of FS-DP1x in the first post because at first glance I couldn't remember what was an FSA-DP1x.) Link to comment
GaryR
Thanks Andrea! Our car is a common 2015 blue Ford Focus. It sure looks sporty with everything blacked out. Link to comment
