Abu Dhabi - In the realm of UV light

Recommended Posts

A few weeks ago I was in Abu Dhabi. The air temperature was comfortably below 30°C/85°F. Although the sky was rarely clear, there was - for a Central European - inconceivable amounts of UV light. Splendid :)

Here are a few impressions.
All photos with my Canon 6D-FS, EF lens 1:2.8 28mm (old version), ZWB 2 plus TSN 575, f 4.0 and 3200 ASA, shutter speed typically 1/90s. Denoising DxO PhotoLab. Toning in NIK-Tools Silver Efex.2023-04-05_07-54-08_6D-FS_ZWB2TSN575_28mm_1-125s_f2.8_3200ASA_Nik_1_DxO_fr.jpg.75b7e333c834a8c7077e57387d6c9536.jpg

Terrific images. The UV enhances the architecture quite a bit. I'd love to visit the area. Shooting UV handheld at 1/90 is amazing.

Thanks for sharing,

All very beautiful @Kai
I was impressed by the cleanliness and sharpness of your 6D at ISO 3200 !!!
I wonder why only UV shots and not some IR (to remove the haze) (but not of the last romantic shot :)

Thank you for the kind comments.
I'm glad you like the pictures :)
@Toni: Of course, I also took many pictures in the NIR and VIS. Especially the date palms looked very impressive in the NIR. Here I just showed the UV pictures :)

Yes, I agree with you :)
I think it's because of the "unsuitably" bright sky (which scatters UV light particularly strongly - even more than blue light).
The last picture is my personal favorite picture...

A terrific travel series. Thanks, Kai!

I am fascinated by the architecture there. The intricate patterns on the mosques are beautiful.
