I'm going to try again to get the Upgrade done -- in a couple of days.

After I've rested up !!. 

 

To explain again (because some posts were lost in the DB rollback):

 

• PHP 7.4 is at the End of Life. So we have a forced conversion to PHP 8.0. And that forced conversion forces an Upgrade of our Invision Community forum software.

 

• The Invision Community software dev team has been doing everything they can to prepare their software for this change. They have suggested that all customizations be reverted during the PHP and forum software upgrades.
  • Thus, we will temporarily ( I HOPE !! ) lose our customized UVP Theme as we revert to the Default Theme. There is not a lot of difference between the Default appearance and our customized appearance. I just changed a few colors and made the layout more compact.
  • We will also temporarily lose our customized Editing Toolbar.
  • I have saved copies of all page and editor toolbar customizations. 

 

• Before I begin this next upgrade attempt, I will give you ample warning. 

 

FWIW, I did not get any satisfactory explanations about why the last Upgrade attempt broke the  database. That had never happened in previous upgrades.
