It is as good opportunity as any to brush up on one's German skills. Biological textbooks in our university system were partly German when I did biology (hmm "some" time ago). But I should be able still to read the stuff even if my capabilities are a bit rusty at present.

Wow! There are so many interesting old books at that link.

Right, today it's the Atlas Of Diseases Of The Nose, yuck.

Seriously, I found this site years ago and have a look at it maybe once a week for the free book of the day, but also have bought some reprints there, really high quality reproductions. With respect to photography, most is a tad outdated, but already in 1876 there was discussion about copyright of the photographer and right of the photographed: https://www.forgottenbooks.com/de/books/DerSchutzderPhotographienunddasRechtamEigenenBilde_10353357  😉

And, of course, topics like composition are never outdated, or topics like ultra-violet: https://www.forgottenbooks.com/en/search?q=ultra+violet&w=b&l=0&Y=0&y=9999&P=0&p=9999&V=0&v=9999&i=0&g=0  😆
