Simoonsam
Hello, everyone! My name is Justin and I've lived on the South Texas coast all my life. I've always had an interest in nature and have been photographing wildlife for as long as I've had a camera on my cell phone. More recently I purchased a DSLR (Nikon 7500) and have gained an interest in UVIVF photography. Since I'm new to this, I'm still acquiring the gear I need, but so far I'm using a modified SB-900 flash with a Bader U-Venus filter sitting in front of it. I also have Adaptalux UV lighting arms that work really well in a controlled, still environment where I can do slower shutter speeds. I modified a soft dog crate by covering the windows in thick black cloth, that way I can use it as a portable dark room. Still need an IR cut filter for my camera lens to bring everything together, but those are exceedingly difficult to find, apparently. Anyway, looking forward to learning and getting better at this! Doug A
Welcome to the forum. Converting the carrier is a neat idea. Can't wait to see your images. Adaptalux recently posted a neat tutorial on dandelions and their UV arms. Thanks for sharing, Doug A Link to comment
dancingcat
Howdy Justin welcome. Good to see a fellow Texan. I’ve found the Adaptalux arms very useful - needing two of them at least at 100% and “boosted” to get uv flower signatures at tolerable shutter speeds, but I find them better as a static source than “painting” with uv flashlights. The real benefit to me is the Adaptalux app for controlling the arm intensities separately. Looking forward to your critter UVIVF.. Link to comment
Kai
Welcome Justin. That looks pretty promising. Now I'm looking forward to beautiful, new pictures! I wish you success :) Greetings from good old Germany Link to comment
