Gray) (Onagraceae) Lindheimer’s Beeblossom Photographed in ultraviolet and visible light. Collected: 30 April 2022 in Waxahachie, Ellis County, TX, USA. Voucher deposition: Botanical Research Institute of Texas Herbarium (BRIT) S. C. Frary [127]. Other Common Names: White Gaura, Butterfly Gaura, Lindheimer’s Gaura, Clockweed, Indian Feather. Synonyms: Gaura lindheimeri, Gaura filiformis var. munzii. Comment: Common on prairies, pastures, and roadsides. Blooms April-July. Native to Texas and southern Louisiana. One of many Texas species collected and described by Ferdinand Lindheimer (1801-1879) for Asa Gray at Harvard. Often cultivated for ornamental planting.
