Andy Perrin
I went for a walk at Mount Auburn in Cambridge, Massachusetts today. Let me note that Bob Friedman has photographed here before me, but I think not in infrared-red-green (IRG) rendition. Some old Bob posts from Mount Auburn: https://www.ultravioletphotography.com/content/index.php?/topic/3311-mt-auburn-bigelow-chapel-cambridge-ma/ https://www.ultravioletphotography.com/content/index.php?/topic/3312-mt-auburn-bigelow-chapel-cambridge-ma/ Filters: MidOpt DB850 + Tiffen 12 Lens: EL-Nikkor 80mm/5.6 Here's my version of the Chapel (this is a pano): The view from the base of the Washington Tower (unfortunately the tower is still locked for the winter). I uploaded the full size so you can click through to see the details. Washington Tower: And from another angle: She caught my attention! colinbm
Lovely IR with a good filter combination. Link to comment
Nate
Great pics, I just did some research on those filters and that DB850 looks interesting, and with the Tiffen12 just cuts the blue? Were all of the pics with the 2 filters stacked? I like the color of the first one. Link to comment
Andy Perrin
All of them were with the same filters, stacked. Editing differed substantially between the pics, although in all of them I used my MATLAB script to separate the IR from the R and G channels. If you look on this board, I made a tutorial ages ago explaining how this stack works and how my script works (which you can duplicate in Photoshop, by the way, MATLAB is for batch processing it). I will say, the colors I get from this stack actually differ substantially between cameras, especially in the sky. This was taken on my NEX-7, but the A7S renders the colors a bit differently. colinbm
There are many combinations of filters that are minus red. Link to comment
Andy Perrin
Colin, this is NOT “minus red”. It is infrared-red-green. The missing light is from 650-800nm, which is the bottom of the NIR. I explained all this ages ago, but I suppose the board has forgotten by now (and Photoni was not here). Both of you, please read the original thread here: https://www.ultravioletphotography.com/content/index.php?/topic/3337-irg-with-one-shot-using-a-db850-tiffen12/ Link to comment
colinbm
650nm is RED. I did say...."here are many combinations of filters that are minus red." Link to comment

Depending where you draw the line, 650nm is the END of red. It's allowing most of the red light to pass and deleting the top of the IR. It's not a "minus red" stack in the sense of the IRchrome, for example. To portray it that way is to misunderstand the point of the filter. It's a "minus lower IR." Link to comment
bobfriedman
Mount Auburn is a great place for all kinds of photography, IR, IR-panos, Visible (especially in the fall) and Bird Photography. On top of all that it is a well groomed very peaceful place to spend time. One of my favorites in the greater Boston area. Link to comment
