Rørslett, B. 2022. Euchlora hirsuta (Thunb.) Druce. Fabaceae. Noorsbal. South-African flowers photographed in ultraviolet (UV) and visible light. LINK

Noorsbal (Afrikanns) = Norwegian Ball

Euchlora hirsuta is a small species found on the dry plains of the Cape and North Cape provinces of South Africa. Like the majority of species here it is endemic to the region.

Overall distribution of E. hirsuta (from http://www.ville-ge.ch/musinfo/bd/cjb/africa/details.php?langue=an&id=125368)

I found and photographed E. hirsuta at  Nieuwoudtville, Bokkeveld  Northern Cape, South Africa. It was growing interspersed with scads of Romulea, Felicia, Cotula, and a vast aray of other colourful, small species.

Visible light,

The species name 'hirsuta' becomes very apt when the involucre is captured in ultraviolett (UV),
