Andrea B.
Blum, A.G. (2022) Yet another example of Datura wrightii Regel (Solanaceae) Jimsonweed. Flowers photographed in visible and ultraviolet light. LINK Aster Way, El Dorado at Santa Fe, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA Date Wildflower Synonyms Datura innoxia var. quinquecuspidata (Torr.) A.S. Barclay Datura inoxia subsp. quinquecuspida (Torr.) Barcl. Datura metel var. quinquecuspida Torr. Other Common Names Angel's Trumpet Devil's Weed Sacred Datura Sacred Thorn-apple Thorn-apple Comment The flowers are simply lovely - elegant, sculptural, delicately hued. The flowers smell sweet; the foliage not so much. I've heard so many folktales about Datura, that I picked it very carefully with gloves on so that I wouldn't get any allergic (or other!) reaction to its alkaloids. 1.
