dabateman
Andrea liked Luminar version 4. It seems to be free from them for a short time. Just hand over your name and email address and get ready for news letter spam. But you get the software here: https://skylum.com/chip-luminar4 Link to comment
Andy Perrin
Thanks! I am ready to be spammed! Link to comment
Nate
Thanks @dabateman seems to work pretty good Link to comment
Andy Perrin
Having played with it, it seems almost exactly the same as Aurora 2019, except with a different GUI layout. Is it the same program with a new name? Link to comment
Fandyus
Can't believe I purchased this a month and a bit ago. Not for full price, it was from the Humble Bundle offer, but still. Link to comment
dabateman
I am not sure why or for how long it will be free. I think they may want to increase their contact list of users to push and try and convince them to buy the new Neo and AI versions. I don't think the newest stuff has been selling well. But that to me is an issue with them changing the software completely every time. Luminar 3 is very different than version 4, many features are gone. Also when you buy the software you also get added to their constant mailing list, so I see no loss in getting something rather than paying for that spam. Link to comment

True, you get spam also if you pay. But e-mail spam filters are free and cannot be detected by the spam sender (the spam does get delivered, and silently deleted at your end), and I guess most of us have unlimited broadband data anyway. It is also unlikely that Skylum will revoke your Luminar license remotely if you cancel your spam subscription on their web site. BTW, what you get for free is Luminar 4, not Luminar AI. Then when you start Luminar 4 the first time it does not start unless your PC is connected to the Internet, so forget about installing it on an offline PC. This insistence on an Internet connection also prevents you to enter offline the serial number provided by Skylum via e-mail. Since I do all really important work on a PC that is physically disconnected from all networks, I guess I must give up on using Luminar 4 on this PC. There is something obviously wrong (either intentionally or accidentally) on the Skylum web site. They advertise Luminar AI for 59 kr (2-computers license): but if you click the Buy Now button the price becomes 692.16 kr: Not something that inspires confidence. Link to comment

nfoto
I installed Luminar yesterday -- it worked then. However, I haven't been convinced Luminar 4 is worth having so likely will uninstall it. Link to comment

Doug A
@photoni worked for me last night, though It got stuck. Re-applied and they sent a new key via email. 2nd time worked, but had to enter email twice and the key. A little tricky. It reads my Pentax K-1 and 645Z Raw files. Good luck, Doug A Link to comment

nfoto
L4 can be run as a free-standing program and/or as a PS plugin. It reads my NEFs, but cannot set a proper "UV white" balance. I removed the program immediately afterwards. Useless crap. Link to comment
dabateman
I am surprised its still free. Maybe they haven't filled their quotas yet. Luminar 3 had a great color selection tool that is gone in version 4. But I haven't had any time to really play with it. Link to comment
nfoto
Skylum company had their chance and blew it with L4. I have put them on the black list so never need to be bothered again. Link to comment
