Times have changed.

I learned to drive a stick-shift pickup truck at age 12 on my grandfather's farm. It used to be common in rural areas that kids learned to drive tractors and pickups at an early age to help out with farm work. So nobody thought anything of Grandpa teaching me to drive at that age. I lived in the city during school time where my dad let me drive his T-bird - but only around the block. Fun! Finally got my driver's license at age 16.
