Scilla siberica [Siberian Squill]: Another Example

Recommended Posts

Blum, A.G. (2013) Another example of Scilla siberica Haworth (Asparagaceae) Siberian Squill. Flowers photographed in ultraviolet, visible and infrared light.

Update: 18 Apr 2016

Middletown, New Jersey, USA

07 April 2013

Cultivar in home garden

Synonyms:

  • Wood Squill
  • Othocallis siberica

Comment: Rørslett (2013) first showed the UV-black stamens and stigma of S. siberica(1). These additional photos of my garden variety Squills show the UV-dark central petal stripe, some UV-iridescence around the center and also the IR appearance of the flower.
