Colorchecker

Here is the "old" CC Passport photographed using the BaaderU on a UAT on the K5. This combination appears to maintain the brightness ordering of the black/grey/white patches in the top row.

Remember, I shoot standards slightly OOF to mitigate potential color artifacts (from lint or color aberrations or whatever) which might alter profiling. Probably overkill, but that is considered standard procedure.

Is that the new version or the old version of the CC Passport?

The Mono cam is the only one which preserves a reasonable degree of tonal separation between the neutral patches. I got an HSB brightness reading of (approx, top to bottom) 22, 37, 52, 67, 81 and 92 on that photo.

The D800M version gave 16, 38, 47, 54, 57, 60. In this version the 3 brightest patches have "piled up" values. (A bit hard to accurately sample these due to the sharpness & grain, but this stuff is only approximate anyway due to Jpg conversion and resizing.)

clearly the intent of posting this was non-scientific. as i said, these cards only really make sense in the visual and they are probably not even calibrated that well for that waveband.. but they do work reasonable well for adjusting visual color profiles and WB. even in the visual they are no panacea when the light is really bad.

i am not sure why you need this information other than visual inspection as kind of ineresting, but i can dropbox the TIFs and you can add Gaussian noise to them if you wish.

when spring/summer rolls around i will have a great deal more to play with in the NUV.

I don't need anything. Just following the wandering thread out of simple curiosity...... It seemed weird that one version of a CC card preserved tonality ranking but another did not. But no biggie.

LOVE the tonalities from the Mono. Now I want one.

Maxmax.com did mine and i am very happy with it.. including the improved UV response with BG38 filter replacement (e.g. UV video)
