Flowers photographed in visible and ultraviolet light. http://www.ultraviol...longleaf-phlox/ Mesa Verde National Park, Montezuma County, Colorado, USA02 May 2013WildflowerLat [N37°20'15.2"] Lon [W108°24'33.3"] Alt[approx2108] Comment:Key to identification of P. longifolia in southwestern Colorado it the white calyx membrane which forms a ridged or "keeled" appearance between the calyx lobes.The small white area at the base of each petal becomes UV-dark, while the moderately UV-absorbing corolla shows some very narrow UV-dark striations.
