Photo Ninja Help Please

I would like some help with Photo Ninja please, but I am not tech savvy, so I need it simple.
I have Photo Ninja, I like the 'Detail' slider it is magical.
What I would like to know is the 'Sharpening' sliders.
There is the 'Sharpening Strength' & 'Sharpening Radius', what do they do & how should they be used Please ?

What they do is make one side of an edge darker and the other side lighter so it stands out more. The radius is how far from the edge it applies the effect and the strength is how much it applies the effect— how much darker/lighter it makes it. So a 4 pixel radius will darken/lighten 4 pixels away from the edge on each side of it. 

 

As to how to use it, I think experimenting is a good idea.

The 'Sharpening' sliders make hardly any changes that I can detect, that is what troubles me most.

Zoom in and look at edges, that’s probably the best way. PN’s version is more subtle than most.
