Other Common Names: Berlandier’s Evening-Primrose, Square-Bud Day-Primrose. Comment: Very showy 2-foot tall clumps of bright yellow flowers, blooming late April-June in North Texas in fields and along roadsides. Note the square buds. The soil is dry and very chalky. Named for French-Swiss botanist-physician Jean-Louis Berlandier (1803-1851), who collected many plants in Mexico and Texas as a member of the 1828 Mexican Boundary Commission, and the 1850 International Boundary Commission.
