StephanN
A day in Vienna yielded a couple of comparison shots in UV and IR (700nm). The first one is the Mumok (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mumok ), the others are from the Belvedere (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belvedere,_Vienna ). I admit that I didn't get all the subjects from the same angle and due to the focal lengths used the IR photos usually have a bit more surroundings, but the differences ought to be visible nontheless. I find it interesting that the materials used during Baroque are almost black in UV. Link to comment

dabateman
Great images. You probably didn't need multiple images to average out the people.Interesting times, I bet getting a similar image may have earlier been impossible with crowds. If I could travel, I have thought about crowded places I would like to revisit to photograph. Link to comment

Correct, almost spooky without the busloads of Asian (and other) tourists Link to comment
Andy Perrin
Very interesting photos, I like to see the comparisons like this. Does your UV lens/filter combo have a hotspot in the middle? Some of the images (especially the statue in the next to last row) seem to have a spot in the middle. Link to comment
Cadmium
Stephan, They are all very nice photos. I really like the second photo the most, in many ways. Link to comment

Some of the images (especially the statue in the next to last row) seem to have a spot in the middle. Oh yes, it does. I'm using the Eos 6D converted to monochrom almost-uv, so need a filter on the lens. I didn't observe a hot spot with the Soligor 21 mm, but this time I used the Nikkor 105 mm with helicoid, usually at f/16. I would have loved to use it at 5.6 or 8, but my copy seems to have a bit of focus shift and I was taking handheld photos, so the first tries were out of focus. Actually, with practically nobody else there I could have brought my tripod, oh well. I did try to correct a bit with a circular correction in Lightroom, but it still shows to the observant. Andy Perrin
You could try doing a flat field correction like the astrophotographers do? (I am learning A LOT from that community lately. They know some neat tricks.)https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/flat-field-correction.html Link to comment
StephanN
So, managed to squeeze in one last trip to Vienna, don't expect to be able to go there again in the next half-year or so. Strictly speaking, the following photos are in the wrong thread, as I don't have their IR-counterparts here, but don't think they rate a new thread. The photos were taken with my usual 6D b/w and the Steinheil Auto-Culmigon 35 mm f/3.5, mostly at f/8. It does have a bit of a focus-shift, but with some of practice handheld shooting is possible. The first six are from the "Zentralfriedhof", and then there are the Karlskirche (https://en.wikipedia...iki/Karlskirche) and the Secession (https://en.wikipedia...ienna_Secession), both of which look quite different in UV. StephanN
Vienna again (part 1 of 3) So, this summer was Vienna-time again, the equpiment was Canon EOS 6D (700nm) with the Canon EF-40mm, and Canon EOS 6D (almost UV), with one of the 35mm f/3.5 lenses (giving a special glow to the UV-photos) and the S8612. The first set of photos is from the Belvedere, a favourite of mine; not as stunning as Schönbrunn, of course, but located closer to city centre :-) Link to comment

lukaszgryglicki
I'm starting to think that UV landscape/architecture is also beautiful - it is just so dark, gloom, has its own "feeling" like very old vintage B/W photos. Link to comment
dabateman
Those UV fountains look amazing. I will have to try that with some that we have here in DC. Link to comment
microbat52
Love it. Love the trees in IR, love the belvedere with the lake in UV Link to comment

If you look closely, you'll see that the rightmost of the four statues in front of the central part is pure white. This one has been redone last year, so another case of new paint versus old paint. In VIS, all four of them are white, of course. Link to comment

StephanN
Having pretty much covered the Belvedere, I feel I ought to show some photos of Schönbrunn (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schönbrunn_Palace ). All these photos were taken in 2019, so no UV-shots here, have to go back for those this year. Also, this was a time where my experience with IR was quite limited, so mostly tourist-shots. All the shots where taken with the full-spectrum Canon EOS 6D, employing the EF 16-35mm lens. I used a 850nm- and a 670nm-filter, I've noted it next to the photos (also numbering them for easier reference ) 1, back-side of the Schloss, pano from 8 photos (850 nm): 2, reflections in the pond of the Neptun-fountain, early in the morning the pumps are still turned off, so nice reflections (850nm): 3, looking at the Schloss from the top of the Neptun-fountain (850nm): 4, Gloriette and its reflection (670nm): 5, side-view of the Schloss, half-hidden (850nm): 6, plenty of paths in the palace grounds (850nm) 7, anotherpath in the palace grounds (850nm) 8, yet another path in the palace grounds (850nm) 9, Schloss and some trees, cut in the traditional fashion (850nm) 10, looking through the keyhole, in castles everything is bigger, even keyholes (850nm): 11, drama at the Columbary (850nm): 12, vista, every respectable Schloss has tons of those (670nm): 13, another vista (670nm): 14, another vista (670nm): 15, Very popular amongst photographers, the Palmenhaus (850nm): 16, Palmenhaus (670nm): 17, Palmenhaus (670nm): 18, a place to rest, after much walking (670nm): 19, and finally, inside this inconspicuous building, there's the famous Artesian well, causing the emperor Mathais to exclamate "Welch’ schöner Brunn", thus coining the name for the Schloss (670nm): Link to comment
