GaryR
Autumn reds are a little weak using this technique, but a variety of transposed colors are possible. I'm using a #12 yellow/XniteCC2 stack (Sony a7R), processed with the NS aerochrome profile. Red Japanese Maple, transposed to yellow Easy to figure out the actual colors Reverse side of previous shot. Link to comment
Cadmium
Gary, Exceptional, all are very nice indeed! Link to comment
Cadmium
CC2 = Schott KG1 (by the way). Type: Heat Absorbing Shortpass filter (KG1, KG2, KG3, KG5).CC1 = Schott BG38. A completely different category of filter glass from KG. Type: BG (blue green) Bandpass filter. Link to comment
GaryR
Thanks for the info, Steve. I'm not sure how much more effective a KG3 would be, but so far, the CC2 / #12Y works fine for my purposes. I've also tried a heat absorbing round glass (2mm thick), that I salvaged from an old Kodak projector. It has a slightly green tint, but no idea what the transmission characteristics are. Unfortunately, it produced a lot more purple/magenta, and way too much green. Link to comment
Andrea B.
Nice work, Gary. I like that park bench scene a lot because of the unexpected reversal of greenish leaves on red grass at a time of year when we would expect reddish leaves on green grass. And the two Beethoven shots. Isn't that a magnificent tree in the last photo! Link to comment
GaryR
Much appreciated Andrea! You never know exactly, how colors are going turn out with this process, but you can always count on evergreens for nice saturated reds. Link to comment
Cadmium
I am going to have to try stacking #12 (or similar) with KG3 to see how it changes the results. I still have not tried that yet.Do you have any comparison example between #12 alone and stacked with KG1 (CC2)? Link to comment
GaryR
Steve,A bit of snow this morning, but here is a comparison with and without the CC2. Levels adjustments, but SOOC color. normal visible NS profile, daylight WB, ( #12Y + CC2) NS profile daylight WB ( #12Y only) I've also wondered if the KG3 would be worth the investment. -g Link to comment
colinbm
Gary is King....you are killing it....;-)I wonder what a Full Spectrum Sigma fp will be like....?Col Link to comment
GaryR
Thanks Colin...and thanks to Mr. Spiker for creating the aerochrome profile. I still find the SOOC aerochrome reds from the foveon sensor breathtaking. The Sony a7R setup is great, but I still like to keep an eye on foveon development. I'm wondering if the upcoming ff foveon model will offer a removable dust/hot mirror protector, like previous SD models. -Gary Link to comment
