Adrian
I reached out for a Satsuma on Christmas Day, and found a decidedly squidgy one in the fruit bowl! Time to investigate with the UV torch (Convoy S2)!On a serious note, does anyone know anything about the moulds that infect citrus fruits? I have been photographing them all year, and sometimes get multi-coloured bands, and others like this one, just have one colour. Presumably the different colours relate to different species of mould? Happy new year to everyone! Link to comment
OlDoinyo
I think you found a way to spot overripe ones. Link to comment
Guest
I wouldn't be surprised if the different colors of mold you find are different species, and/or just different stages of development/progression of the mold. Link to comment
Andrea B.
Aha! A good way to find the Bad Apple amongst the Satsumas. B)Quite a dramatic difference there. Link to comment
Bill De Jager
Did the bad one actually grow mold afterwards? Softness and decay in fruit can be due to mold, yeast, or bacteria. If you're lucky it'll be yeast and the fruit will have a nice zing to it. :-) Link to comment
