Flowers photographed in ultraviolet and visible light. http://www.ultraviol...uropaeus-gorse/ Loch Broom, near Ullapool, Scotland, United Kingdom02 May 2016Wildflower Synonyms:Whin (Scotland)Conasg (Gaelic: from conas = quarrel)Comment: The Scottish countryside is very prettily decorated in spring with the deep golden yellow Gorse flowers. But beware the spines on this shrub! Like many Fabaceae members, the Gorse flower has a UV-bright banner with UV-absorbing keel and wings. UV-dark veining is also prominent on the banner. Rain and strong winds required a boost from the UV-flash while attempting to shoot this Gorse. Reference:1. Scott, Michael (2011) Scottish Wild Flowers. Whin, page 191.
