Andrea B.
Looking closer at the BG3, a cool filter for IR work.My version is 1.5mm thick. I haven't tried it in any stacks yet. But with an S8612 it will give some combination of UV+ Blue + Cyan + a little bit of Green. Thanks to Ebay Uviroptics for the charts! BG3 only. Here is how the raw looked - demosaiced in Photo Ninja with exposure box checked. No colour adjustments made. The 'raw' foto with Red and Blue channels flipped in PS Elements 11. The 'raw' foto with white balance made on the flower and yellow moved +30 towards green in Photo Ninja. Version originally presented above.White balance was made on one of the light background blobs in Photo Ninja.Blue saturation was increased +50. K5 colour profile and Scenic colour correction applied. Edit: added 'a little bit of'. Link to comment
Andrea B.
Looking closer at the UG5 + S8612 - with some charts from Ebay Uviroptics (thank you!). Here is the demosaiced version of the foto posted above. Again Photo Ninja was used for the conversion. Now add the exposure data - includes camera gamma curve which lifts the midtones. I somewhat arbitrarily chose a light background blob to use again for the white balance step because in the BaaderU foto above those bkg areas were neutral. But it is interesting that the leaves are dark yet the flower does not show the darker center area that it does in the other UV fotos. Link to comment
kds315
BG3: "But with an S8612 it will give some combination of UV+ Blue + Cyan + Green"Nope, you won't get any green, check the charts, nothing from 500nm onwards(allright that little bit 480-500nm you'll get).... Link to comment
Andrea B.
I completely messed up this post. Will try to fix it later. Sorry 'bout that!! Erased it for now. :) Added: I edited my statement above to say 'a little bit of green'. Link to comment
kds315
There is no BG8612, only S8612 Link to comment

Andrea B.
I thought I should have some knowledge about other filters so I have been gradually collecting a few. Next up is a nice set of PrecisionU, AndreaU and CopperU. It will be fun to work with those and add some comparisons of their characteristics. I had worked with a couple of the prototypes, but wanted to get more useful 52mm versions which I find easier to use.[ Everybody else's mileage may vary on the 52mm preference. ;) ] Link to comment
