baffe
Hi! During the last weeks I was looking for Stones that Show fluorescence. Not far from my house I found Little pieces of a material that Shows beautiful fl but seems to be not Stone. There are fabrics that seem to be textile and are moulded onto the hard glassy material. Not common at Stones. The pieces are smaller than 1/2 Inch (12mm). The marks on the black ruler are 1mm. Whatever this is, it makes good Pictures. First daylight Flash, then nichia 365nm Led torch. http://up.picr.de/19895151dm.jpghttp://up.picr.de/19895152er.jpghttp://up.picr.de/19895153sh.jpghttp://up.picr.de/19895154cj.jpghttp://up.picr.de/19895155iz.jpghttp://up.picr.de/19895156oc.jpg http://up.picr.de/19895150fh.jpg The cam was Canon EOS 1100D with very Special macro lens. http://up.picr.de/19895157au.jpg Link to comment

colinbm
I am baffled baffe.....Perhaps it is some melted plastic from a doll ?I do like your macro set-up, with the older folder MF lens :DCol Link to comment
baffe
Hm John, next time I am going to search for fragments of his spaceship! ;-) Colin seems to be a composite of plastic and stone, glass or ceramics. I showed the pictures to a collector of stones and he told me: 1.These are not stones.2.They are artificial. I only have small pieces. There was a bigger one but it collapsed during my attempts of pulling it out of the mud. Colin the "older folder MF lens" is not as simple as it looks like. It provides (by means of its Canon backpack):-a limited focus range (of course no focus on infinity)-adjustable flange focus distance via former zoomring to adjust the focus range roughly But according to the macro limited focus range it offers EF modes:-autofocus by using the motor and electronics of the former Zoom-manual focus with focusring of the old lens, of the former Zoom including indicator in the viewfinder-fully camera controlled electric diaphragm-Depth of field preview via Camerabutton Only the light-metering is not calibrated... Hm, perhaps it is? I never tried that. Stefan Link to comment
colinbm
Thanks StefanI'll keep thinking........I am fiddling with an older folder at present, with all my other projects. This one is set on M42 extension tubes at the original FFD, approx 75mm & reaches infinity. I can add some more extension tubes to increase the macro magnification.Cheers Sigma SD15, with an older folder MF lens from a Franka Solida III.Col Link to comment
baffe
Looks very nice! And the lens looks a little "faster". How did you manage to fix the lens to the extension tube? I can't cut M42 threads. But M42 had some advantages. Adapters to any Cam, and a lot of available and cheap extensions, bellows, lenses and every part fits to the others. Link to comment
colinbm
Yes StefanThe lens is a Schneider-Kreuznach Radionar 80 f2.9. You can use the M42 focusing helicoid 17mm to 32mm to get the exact FFD.http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/M42-to-M42-Mount-Focusing-Helicoid-Ring-Adapter-17-31mm-Macro-Extension-Tube-/371168193023?pt=US_Lens_Adapters_Mounts_Tubes&hash=item566b5929ff I used this...Copal 0 (32.5mm x 0.5) to M42 mount adapter.http://www.custompho.../copal-adapters CheersCol Link to comment
baffe
FFD? I don't understand. Carl Zeiss Tessar 105/3,5 and Agfa Agnar 85/4,5. The 105 is mounted fix and can be focused on infity. The Agnar is mounted on the Adapter like the trioplan before. The thread is (nearly) alwas the same on the "folderlenses". They all have EF functions like AF and Cam controlled diaphragm. http://up.picr.de/19900379ej.jpg Link to comment

cmoody
Do you know anything of the history of the area you found the "stone"? It looks like some kind of slag material, maybe recycling old carpet plastic fibres (carpet?) for substrate? Link to comment
baffe
It really looks like slag material. The area is northeast our village. There are just forests, fields and meadows around.Only access are some narrow roads, blocked to common traffic. https://www.google.de/maps/place/49%C2%B038'31.3%22N+12%C2%B010'35.0%22E/@49.6420278,12.1763889,493m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0 Some years ago a pump station for potable water was installed a little north. https://www.google.de/maps/place/49%C2%B038'32.6%22N+12%C2%B010'37.2%22E/@49.6423889,12.177,493m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0 They digged also a power cable into the ground on or along the road. I like the area because the road (west-east) is is steep and rocky and heavy agricultural vehicles dig there constantly new stones from the ground. There is not anything around than just fields and meadows an a forest in the north. And I think there was never a village. At least not in the time since people use plastic fibers... Link to comment
cmoody
I wonder if it could be leftovers from a camp or bonfire. I remember walking through a forest car park that had recently been inhabited by some travellers. There were patches on the gravel that had all sorts of molten lumps of metals and other materials that they had burnt! Link to comment
baffe
Hi! Camping and open fire is not allowed in this area. I think this might be building recycling material. I hope the expression is right. I'm talking about the materials that demolition companies put out of their shredders. It is used to build roads, drainage layers and such things. This material should be free of chemistry and waste but somethings odd things happen. Link to comment
