colinbm
HI everyoneThe latest sequence of the grubby mits in IR Fluoro.I wrote on my hand in blue biro at 10:20am, then the first washing, 11 hours later at 9:30pm, after further washing I took the Visible induced IR Fluorescence shot of my hand & lastly the bare hand in VIS light, showing no visible biro ink to my eye.CheersCol Link to comment
nfoto
To complete the task, do snap a shot in IR of the hand as well. Link to comment
colinbm
I'll do it now BjornCol My now famous hand in IR light, the same filters on the camera as before, 720-780nm. The light source the same 24watt Mercury vapor HID flashlight, this time unfiltered.CheersCol Link to comment
nfoto
Thanks, that was helpful indeed. The fluorescence appears much more likely. Link to comment

colinbm
I promise this will be the last of my paw......unless by popular demand, I am requested to return :D20 32 hours later the biro ink is still readable on my hand, in Visible Light induced Infrared Fluorescence.CheersCol Link to comment
Timber
Nice hands Colin, I see a great fortune and prosperity in your future! But beware as not everything is gold that shines! <- isn't it what all the fortune tellers say all the time? :D Have you tried different inks? It would be interesting to find out if all inks act like this or only certain type. Ps.: It's fun to see you use biro for ballpen... Biro means Judge in hungarian, and it was the family name of the inventor Laszlo Biro (Leslie Judge :D) Link to comment
colinbm
Thanks PeterThanks for Mr Biro's story too.I called it a biro as I thought it would be more likely to be internationally recognized what I was talking about.Col Link to comment
nfoto
Had not the faintest clue what 'biro' was - sounded like a dubious beer to my ears ... Link to comment
JCDowdy
Dubious beer names seem to be in vogue.Question is, would you have tasted it regardless? Link to comment
Andrea B.
I always wondered where 'biro' came from !! Didn't know that guy invented them. Link to comment
nfoto
Aha. Ballpoint, not a dubious beer. Perhaps the usual designation would have been better after all? Link to comment
Andrea B.
That *is* the usual designation for many people. "-) Link to comment
nfoto
Not in my part of the world. Hence my confusion. Link to comment
enricosavazzi
"Biro" is one of the two common terms in use in Italy. The other translates to "ballpoint pen". In Sweden, only an equivalent of the latter term is used. The Japanese use a shortened version of the Americal term (boorupen). I am told, however, that "biro" is common in the UK and Australia.
