A frog on duckweed

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

My first picture here. A frog in our pond on what we call “duckweed” locally (Lemnaceae).

Taken with a Kolarivision-converted X-T2 (850nm) @80mm, Fujinon 16-80mm.

Why not try a standard jpg? They work ....

Some software add the .jpeg extension instead of .jpg -- not sure if that is acceptable.

Duckweeds are my forté as I work with these species on a daily basis.

What is the extension on the file that will not upload??

Maybe I can reset something??

As fast as I could...PNG from my PC worked fine. The first try was on an iPad.

There is an insect visible just in front of his left foot.

Nice "frogweed" .... Most of the duckweed material is Greater Duckweed Spirodela polyrhiza. There are some small fronds here too which may be Lemna minuta. Both are very dark in UV, by the way. No idea of the UV behaviour of your frog specimen, though. I did French frogs and they had nice UV markers.

Very cool photo. The frog's legs/feet are slightly transparent in Infrared. Who knew?

Fronds of various duckweed species.

Eggs are big gelatineous masses under water.

I can see it now...they have gone white in IR....
