Question about Putty-Mounted Back Filters

Andrea B.

Recommended Posts

"What is this "Putty" of which you speak, Captain??", she asked.

I know about certain household putties none of which I think would be useable for glopping onto the back of a lens to keep a filter in place.

So what should I be looking for anyway?

Suggestions welcome!

Thx.

I’ve been using 3M poster putty for years for that purpose. It does leave a bit of residue but the residue wipes off. It’s the stuff the college kids hang posters with. At least if they want their deposit back at the end of the lease...

It’s actually quite a strong bond. I have only once had a filter come loose in the years I’ve been using it.

Aha! I really should have guessed. We might even have some of this stuff somewhere around the house. Although it might still be packed as we seem to have an unending supply of unpacked boxes from that move over a year ago.

Thankee to both of you for the information and links.
