Andrea B.
Recently we have had Ulf and Bernard measuring and testing lenses in a formal manner. (Once again, a big Thank You to them.) Inspired by this, I was contemplating ordering a lens chart for my own use. While looking around, I found this summary of some commonly used test charts and targets. You might enjoy it. BTW, posting this link does not constitute a recommendation or anything like that. It is only for learning more about lens testing. Six items are discussed. https://www.edmundoptics.com/knowledge-center/application-notes/imaging/testing-and-targets/ Link to comment
ulf
That is a good summary. If you have a reasonably good printer you can print your own lens test chart, at least if you use it at some distance for normal lenses. For close-up macro it becomes more complicated as the resolution needed for the printing is difficult to achieve. Here is an interesting site:http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/printer-test-images/Search here for Lens Resolution Test images. At the same page there are links to Norman Koren's site that has some very interesting ideas and free target files for evaluating MTF. I have a discussion going with Bernhard of how to best design a good test target. Link to comment
