i already have the 40cm Noflexar. However, despite its response n UV, the usefulness might be reduced as the optics generate a lot of chromatic aberrations.

I did not notice any such big problems when I tested my lenses, but I have not used them for many images.
Could it be individual differences?
My favourite is the T-Noflexar is the sharpest of them.

My memory wakes slowly.

When checking back on a test series for the Fernobjektiv 40cm, I noticed an axial CR when out of focus, especially with a fully open iris.
I only saw that on edges against the sky and the situation improved considerably or vanished when in focus and stopped down a few stops.

I have not done the same tests for the other lens types.

In my mind these lenses are still viable alternatives as superteles for UV.

Birna, are your big zoom lens really OK for UV, fully open?

"OK" as in will deliver some kind of UV-related imagery, yes. Of course one could wish for better penetration into the UV band, especially sinece one tends to get spoiled by the response of the Coastal and UV-Nikkor lenses. The images with the 200-600 hold more sharpness than I would have expected from this vintage optics, however age discloses itself by the lower overall contrast.

The 200-600 can do false-colour emulated IE as well.So I regard it as a handy lens to put into the back of my car.
