This succulent desert plant is native to the Baja California region of Mexico. It is related to the desert Ocotillo (Fouquieria splendens). The Boojum Tree has a very tall, thick trunk but no major branching. Its leaves are small and blue-green in colour when fresh. The plant shown here has dormant, dried leaves. In ultraviolet light there are no remarkable characteristics.

This bird sat for a while at the top of the Boojum Tree. I think it is a Mockingbird?
