Canon MPE 65mm Macro and EF speed booster Ultra for M43rds

I picked up the EM1 hoping to be able to use a large range of lenses. One lens I use for Macro work is the Canon 65mm MPE 1-5x macro. Its big and was funny on my old GM5, but worked well. I also have the Metabones EF to 43rds speed booster ultra. So I thought why not test them and see if I Can see anything.

The Only light source used is my dome cut off "Black light" that is mentioned in an other thread. My 2nd PC sync hot shoe adapter arrived today, so I can use both of my working Canon 199A flashes. But I did NOT use them for this test as it seems my Wein sync is acting up. They do seem stable using the PC sync port on the EM1 and a splinter I have, so you may see them in the future.

I was surprised that the image is not darker. The speed booster has 5 elements in 4 groups. So whatever light is gained by the "boosting" effect, cancels out the light lost due to the elements. This I thought was worth posting here. This also was true for other lenses. No impact between no booster and booster with venus baader 2 filter and this "black light". I will have to test if this is true with my Canon flashes and outside in direct sunlight.

I don't know the flower, but it is in bloom on one of my bushes now. I like the UV pattern that is not observed in visible light. Also the Canon 65mm has huge focus shift between normal and UV. So live view is mandatory. I also needed to back up the tripod a little for the No filter shot. I don't think I have a comparable lens as others here. My Igoriginal 35 mm f3.5 (kuri clone) was similar exposed with ISO 800, F4, 2 second shutter, with only black light and venus baader 2 filter. So the Canon 65mm MPE Macro is only about 1.5 stop slower, using the "black light". The Stock EM1 has reduced sensitivity in the ZWB1 filter range, but could still see it for live view composition with my "black light".

Thank you Andrea.

Around my house we have that pink one, red ones, white ones with pink in them and these white ones with no visible dots. I am not sure if the previous owner bred them, but on each side of the house is a different type.

It would be interesting to find out whether they are the same or not in UV? There's a cool experiment for you! :)
