Fun with ZB1 filter on Sigma 18-35mm with Olympus EM5mk2

Recommended Posts

I had a chance to test some lenses and filters, but it was an over cast day without direct sunlight on the weekend.

These images were taken using a full spectrum modified Olympus EM5mk2 with Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 lens and the Metabones Speed booster ultra. All images are directly from the camera Jpegs just resized in Irfanview. The White balance was taken off a concrete grey tile I have in the back using one touch white balance after adding the filter.

ZB1 filter (Not a ZWB1, this one is like a Hoya B390 filter) with 2 mm BG39 at F1.3 ISO 200 1/30 seconds at 25mm:

Now removing the BG39 to let the IR in you get a very yellowish Image ISO 200 F2.8 1/50 ZB1 filter only:

Corrected White balance off in camera you get a nicer Orange with just the ZB1 filter, ISO 200 F2.8 1/50:

This is the same Just ZB filter with more in the view to see that nice Orange landscape:

For those interested this is the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 lens with Metabones speed booster Ultra on EM5mk2 with 2mm ZWB2 and 2mm BG39, ISO 400 F1.3, 1/2 second shutter speed on overcast day no direct sunlight:

All these filters in this post are 77mm in diameter on a 72mm to 77mm step up ring.

Really nice! I'm always looking for a good "Goldie" look... this seems to fit quite well!

The light was very weird that day. Some UV and some IR through the over cast clouds. But also odd behavior. The ZWB3 looked different.

So I wouldn't draw conclusions until I get a Sunny day to really see.
