Flowers photographed in ultraviolet and visible light. http://www.ultraviol...omas-buckwheat/ Joshua Tree National Park, California, USALat [N33°43'07.2"] Lon [W115°48'36.9"] Alt[789]05 March 2012Wildflower Comment:Having an airy branched structure and small yellow flowers, E. thomasii is a year-round blomming member of the Creosote Bush or Joshua Tree community in the Mohave and Sonoran deserts of the southwestern US and northwestern Mexico.In UV the E. thomasii flower appears moderately UV-reflective with some darker center marks. The corolla seems to show some iridescence, but given the small size of the flower, a closer study is needed to confirm this and other UV characteristics. Reference:1.
