No one knows the purpose of the "eye spots".2: Carnivorous plant: Sarracenia sp. in UVR, showing UV absorbent nectar which lures insect prey to it's death! Interesting that the visible patterns disappear in UV.3: Male Brimstone butterfly in UVR. An attempt to show how the bright patch shown in UV might "flash" on and off during flight to attract a female. Link to comment
