Wildflower in botanical garden

Synonyms:

  • Kenilworth Ivy
  • Linaria cymbalaria L.

Comment: This non-native plant can often be seen growing on stone walls where it clings but really does not climb like true ivy. I've seen C. muralis growing charmingly on stone bridges in Venice. The flower shows a lovely two-tone UV appearance with a velvety UV-black on the lower portion of the corolla. The leaves are UV-dark and somewhat iridescent.
