Publishing Guidelines: Template 2 for Botanical Post

Andrea B.

Recommended Posts

First read through our guidelines here:

To make a botanical post easier, you might like to copy/paste/edit the Template below to make it easier to get your post underway. Following this Template are the changes needed for secondary posts.

There is an alternate Template: Template 1 for Botanical Post

There are minor variations which will be needed for some posts. For example, addition of a cultivar or subspecies name. Another example, addition of infrared photos and their mention in the initial Post ID String. I've provided 4 sample Post ID Strings. Minor variations are of course permitted.

Minor variations in listing details of equipment are of course acceptable as long as the basic data is given clearly.

For more detail about listing your References please see: Formatting References.

Make the following 4 changes when your posts adds a flower which has already been published by someone else. Feel free to vary the phrasing as needed while keeping to the Template form.

For more details see here: Publishing Guidelines: Multiple Posts of the Same Botanical

For example, in place of 'Another Example' in the Post Title and Post ID String, you might want to use phrases like 'More Material', 'An Unusual Example', 'Another Look' or whatever best describes your secondary post of a previously published botanical.

Change Post Title:

Genus species [Common_name]: Another Example

Change Post ID String:

Name, Initials (Year) Another Example of taxonName Author (familyName) commonName. Flowers photographed in ultraviolet and visible light. LINK

Add Appropriate Phrase to Comment:

Name (Date) first showed taxonName in ultraviolet(1). Here is another example which also exhibits the same characteristics in UV.

Add the Post ID String of the Previously Published Botanical to the References:

Name, Initials (Year) taxonName Author (familyName) commonName. Flowers photographed in ultraviolet and visible light. LINK
