Syn. Senecio greyi Hook. f.

EN: Daisy Bush

 

A shrub native to New Zealand, now occasionally found as an ornament garden plant. Some of the material may be of hybrid origin ('Dunedin' hybrid complex with B. greyi, B. laxifolia, B. compacta). It was originally described as a member of the huge genus Senecio.

Ultraviolet light. Panasonic GH-2, Coastal Optics 60 mm f/4 APO lens, Baader U 2" (Venus) filter, daylight.

 

B. greyi flower heads show highly reflective ray florets, UV dark pollen, and UV-dark disc flowers. The UV marks do not extend onto the rays. Weather prior to the capture had been variable wet and some necrotic tissue shows up as small darker stains scattered over the rays.
