Andrea B.
Botanical classification changes frequently especially because of new findings via application of molecular genetics. So, to verify the family placement of your flower's genus please consult the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group III (APG III) system. The APG III version 13 website is maintained by the Missouri Botanical Garden here:http://www.mobot.org...eb/welcome.html APG III links to the main pages are found here:http://www.mobot.org...new.htm#Summary APG III family links are found here:http://www.mobot.org...myfamilies.html Every APG III family entry will have a link to the list of genera within that family. This genera link, enclosed in square brackets, is found just before the "Age" discussion.Use these genera links to verify your flower genus is in a particular family. There is a lovely Angiosperm classification poster available in PDF format for printing here:http://www2.biologie...ter/poster1.pdf A similar Angiosperm chart charmingly presented in the form of a garden is found here:http://www.cs.man.ac...flora/chart.pdf The Wikipedia entry for APG III has a multitude of links directly into the database including family links. This might be quite useful, and is found here:http://en.wikipedia..../APG_III_system Link to comment
