Maldon, Victoria, Australia5 November 2013Australian Native Wildflower as Garden Specimen CommentVerticordia chrysantha is a widely distributed species in the drier parts of south-western Western Australia where plants grow on a wide range of soil types. The eye-catching feathery appearance of the flowers is created by the heavily fringed sepals below the petals. The petals and sepals which appear yellow in visible light are very dark to almost black in the ultraviolet. Andrea B.
Oh this one is very feathery! The fluorescent glow through the feathers is nice. Isn't the title of that book cute --- "The Turner of Hearts". Those authors must really love their Verticordia, eh? Link to comment
