Oleksandr Holovachov, a.k.a "Alex H"

Since I've been reading this forum from the first days of it being online, I think I finally need to introduce myself. My name is Oleksandr Holovachov, known on several forums (Dyxum.com, Nikongear.com and MFlenses.com) as "Alex H". My main filed of work is research in animal diversity and systematics in the Swedish Museum of Natural History in Stockholm. Nature photography has been my hobby and part of my work for the past 18 years – I use it to illustrate the results of my work, and provide others with my pictures for scientific and educational use.

I started doing UV photography in 2010 with the unmodified Nikon D70 and Novoflex Noflexar 3.5/35mm and since then changed a number of cameras and a lot of lenses. My current kit includes self-converted broadband NEX-6, about 15 different UV-capable lenses ranging from 20mm to 500mm and many "home-brewed" contraptions.

Over time I gathered a small collection of UV-VIS diptychs of flowers (http://www.holovachov.com/p184452965, many of which need WB to be corrected), but my current interests in UV-photography are less "scientific":

1) pictorial UV-photography without the visible component (http://www.holovachov.com/p415596448);

2) multispectral composites of different type (http://www.holovachov.com/p200360707 and http://www.holovachov.com/p638720078);

3) UV-induced visible fluorescence photography (http://www.holovachov.com/p187256964)

Few examples of some of my work (some already published on other forums before).

1) Burned and broken glass

You are most welcome on board the UVP site, Sir. I really enjoy seeing a wide range of expressions from the "non-visible" approaches you have followed and demonstrate here.

Hi Alex and welcome to UVP.com.

You are one of my favorite creative UV photographers, so I'm excited to have you posting here. :lol: ;)

Thank you everyone. I do plan to post few "informal" things in the nearest future.

BTW, Bjørn, is there any way to adjust the settings so that my images are not downsized automatically by this forum software. Same happens on Nikongear too.

Here are the current settings for Image Dimensions from our Publishing Guidelines.

    • If you have uploaded a 1200 x 1200 image, tell your viewers to click the page view
      to see the larger pop-up view.
    • On an iPad or other mobile device, both the page view and the pop-up view

Thanks for pointing me to the guidelines section. Apologize for not reading it properly.
