Comment:

When looking down from above, a flowering Townsend's Daisy almost appears to be the top of a blooming cactus because of its stemless flowers. It was a delight to come across ! The disc florets were not yet open in this specimen, so I hope to find another example someday further along in bloom.

In UV the rays and phyllaries are very UV-dark against the moderately UV-reflective leaves with their UV-bright hairy surfaces.
