Rørslett (2013) first described an A. tessellata from Joshua Tree National Park in UV. The example here was seen further north in the Mohave National Preserve. In Ultraviolet A. tessellata's 5 red spots becomes UV-black while the bright yellow corolla is UV-bright. The foliage and calyx are UV-dark.
