Experiments combining fill-in flash with natural UV

Nikon-E 28mm, U-360 + S8612, modified Qpaq flash gun- max power + diffuser iso 400 f11 2 sec

Lesser Celandine, Ranunculus ficaria, early morning with frost

I'm not familiar with the Qpaq flash kit, but had a quick look on the 'net. Are you using the inbuilt diffuser- I would have expected that to be UV absorbing?

 

Do you have any comparative shots with and without flash?

Thanks, the flash was an old quantum Qpaq-x, seems to radiate UV, "etched the glass tube" a bit more to help with any UV production. Its a portable old system same sort of thing as Qflash which also seems to kick out some UV and can be useful. I did modify a metz ct45 before, but this seems to kick out more than the metz.

None of their diffuser except for some material I found that would diffuse the light, the diffusers they supply do let UV pass but lessens the power by at least 1/2.
