Comment:

Beloved by hummingbirds, Justicia californica's scarlet flowers put on a spectacular display in the Sonoran desert when the shrubs are in bloom. Bees may see the UV-absorbing Chuparosa flower as bee-neutral, but they do visit it. The plant is one of the host plants for the Texas Crescent (Phyciodes texana) butterfly.
