This is a small annual desert plant found the the SW deserts of the USA.

 

This specimen was photographed in Joshua Tree National Park, California USA 4 Mar 2012.

Ultraviolet light: Nikon D40X, UV-Nikkor 105 mm f/4.5 lens, Baader U2@ (venus) filter, SB-140 flash.

 

The style and anthers are UV-dark in this species while the petals are moderately UV-reflective.
