Very strange web site when it comes to direct links.

Ok, David's link doesn't work, Birna's second one does.

Yes my link only worked for 1 hour.

Currently at $3.50. I wonder if you could pay someone local to pick it up and mail it. This will definitely sell low, if I didn't have one, I would be upset. If not COVID, I would fly in to get it myself. Would be cheaper than what I paid. I used to know people nearby, but haven't spoken to them in over 20 years.

Somebody is keen indeed on becoming the highest bidder -- and no, I'm not into the debacle !!

This reminds me that the practice of bidding and overbidding all through the auction only makes the seller satisfied.

Not me, I can't get it. I have been out of touch with my family there for more than 20 years. Don't even know how to contact them.
I learned from the bay, not to bid until last 10 seconds if someone beat me to being first. Otherwise always goes too high.
However, a UAT did sell on the bay just over a year ago for $10000 USD. Also not mine.
So not surprised so far. This only about $2400 usd now.

Golden rule for online auctions:

1. Decide how much you are willing, and able, to pay for something you really wish to get your hands on
2. 10 secs before auction closes, see if current high bid exceeds your limit set in (1). If not, advance to (3)
3. 3 sec before auction closes, add the required minimum increase to the current high bid, set your own limit as max.
4. 1 sec before closing, submit your one, and only, bid

You either win the item at a price you can afford, or lose it. I'm no longer in the bidding business (having far too much stuff, really), but there are a long row of items won in this manner in my cupboards.

New addendum to this auction action is to see if the seller is open to offers. If so put in your reasonable offer.
Recently "won" stuff this way at 1/3 the new cost and sometimes even 1/2 the current going used cost. As better for some to have cash now today then at end of 7 or 10 day auction.

Perhaps unnecessary to remind that there likely are VAT, (import) duties/taxes, etc. to be paid on top of the final price.

Dr. Klaus Schmitt informs me there are about 45 known (to him at least) samples of the UAT. We can safely conclude the lens is a rarity, but what a pity for it to end up as a collector's item instead of being used for its designated purpose !!

The UAT is up to $3300 now. I'm assuming that is Canadian dollars, of course.

It seems strange that the lens cannot be shipped.

Not strange at all for government auctions. Most will not ship anything. Thats how you can sometimes get crazy things super cheap. The Maryland site has even a building and land for sale. Also good for trucks.

For anyone interested in buying this, but are being put off by the shipping situation, it's not an insurmountable issue. The seller contacted me (and a few others) before the sale went live, and I have been emailing him since. The buyer is welcome to pay for postage, and email the PDF of the shipping labels to the vendor, and then the vendor can ship it.

I'm not going to put the vendors email address on here, but if this has piqued anyones interest, from me a PM with your email address and I can forward it to the vendor, so you can deal with them directly.

I will not be bidding on this one. While I like the look of it, and it has the UVC filter (which mine doesn't), I don't need another one.

OK, I'm not. I have too many lenses as it is. I do not need another one.

I was really surprised that one eBay auction-style listing for an item I'd long wanted suddenly sprouted a surprisingly low "buy it now" price when I returned the next day, long before the auction was to end. I immediately purchased the item which I'd previously assumed would go far too high for my taste at some point.

So it can pay in unexpected ways to check back on a listing from time to time well before it ends.

Still less than what I paid for mine and I just got the bare lens. Only add on was a 49mm to 52mm step up ring with generic cap. Didn't get the real caps as promised.
