GaryR
On a recent trip to Zubick's scrap metal, I decided to take along the Sony a7R/ Nikkor 50mm/f1.8 Ai and #12 Y + XNite CC2 stack. I added a PL, but the effect wasn't that dramatic. The sculptures were created by students at a local college, and are on permanent display at Zubick's. Link to comment

dabateman
These remind me when I ripped out a kitchen in Winnipeg many many years ago. I remember dumping off stuff at the dump and all the cool things you could find and see. Someone joked to me I would be coming back with more stuff then I dropped off. I am fixated on your third image with a great looking blender jar and a bbq I could probably fix. Link to comment
nfoto
The rather garish colours and the scrap-metal artwork contrast each other nicely. My favourite would be the last image in the sequence. Link to comment
GaryR
Thanks all !There's always interesting things to photograph out there, if you don't mind dodging pickup trucks. Link to comment
Andrea B.
What an interesting contrast between the hard metals and the soft pink foliage. Nicely seen. I like that elephant. And the parrot is quite well done. Those students have talent. Although I wonder if any of these would ever be sold in an art gallery. Well, who knows? Link to comment
GaryR
Hi Andrea,Any of these sculptures could easily be in a gallery, but the truth is that Zubick's offered free welding classes and unlimited access to scrap materials, so the students get hands-on experience, and Zubick's gets a great permanent display. The other side of the lot, has the creepy sculptures. The hornet isn't showing in these shots, but the mantis has always been my favorite. Link to comment
