This simulation sudy is a little heavy but interesting moving forward.

Echoing Andrea's recent post. I actually think it belongs here. As yes its technical, but also fictional at the same time. They haven't made the optimized sensor to prove the modeled results. Also not too sure why they are fixated on just improving the NIR. I would want the 0.9um sensor with the deeper well (dash line in figure 2c and solid line in 2d). Slight improvement in both NIR and UVB, with more UVA response.

Andy might want the dashed line sensor in figure 2d. Dramatic increase in IR response.

 

What I found interesting is that 0.9um pixel has significantly better UV response than the 1um pixel. Also adding the deep silicon photodiode helped to slightly improve the UVB collection.

Not surprisingly adding 300nm thickness layer below the color filter array hurts the UV response, but dramatically improved the NIR response. Thats the triangles.

 

Relevant images from the study. Figure 2A is real data from a sensor to show they can model it successfully.
