OlDoinyo
A dusting of snow fell across the western Carolinas yesterday, something that has not happened much this season; and I visited a couple of spots in the area to take advantage of the event. Two spots in nearby South Carolina at the base of the escarpment provided some opportunities. All images were obtained with the Sony A900 at ISO 100, the Asahi 35mm lens at f/16, and the Baader U2 filter. Display intent is BGR. The first subject is a small waterfall by the roadside on State Route 11. Waterfalls typically make good UV subject matter: The second is the Poinsett Bridge, a historic bridge on the old wagon road between Greenville and Asheville, and named for Joel Poinsett (of poinsettia fame.) It now sits in the forest beside a modern road: The UV imaging picks out the moss and lichen on the stonework clearly. Most of the rest of the image is fairly monochromatic. The snow really pops out in these images, though deeper snow might have made for better pictures. But around here, one takes what one can get. Link to comment

Stefano
They remind me of film, for some reason. Films are very sensitive to UV. Link to comment
