When they hit 320x240 or whatever, I may want one...the TriWave is nice but not portable at all. Incidentally, the website falsely claims that nobody has used germanium for SWIR, when as we know, the TriWave does. I would very much like to know what is going on here. Is there a relationship between the former NoblePeak and Stratio, who makes this new camera?

Does look interesting. But I am not sure if you could use filters.

Also what is the quantum efficiency of that type of chip over the wavelength range?

I wonder if it would lean to the 800nm or 1600nm side? That could make a difference. Something I consider with our silicon chip and UV photography. As we are in the 1% and need extremely IR blocked filters.

If it leans to the 800nm side, then simple long pass filters could be used for band isolation.

Unknown since I'm not sure of their exact tech. I know the triwave (which is also germanium at least) has this QE:

But that obviously does not end at 800nm. InGaAs has a peak at 1600 and then goes to 0 nearer 1700, and in the other direction it ends around 900nm.

I noticed that it is no longer available. Is it due to the coronavirus situation or because they sold out?

Flir makes a meter that has a 160x120 thermal camera built into the meter for about $700. Its intended use is for looking for hot spots indicating trouble areas in machinery being serviced. I have one. It works pretty good, but it is awkward to download any saved images. the USB jack is inside the battery compartment.

Apparently nobody bought them and they ended the sale. I don't want to spend ~$1000 at the moment (and in the near future), but that camera was really interesting. It is sad that they will not sell them anymore (unless you contact the seller and convince him to sell you one).

FLIR sells the FLIR One Pro which is 160x120 and hooks to your smartphone for about $400 (haven't checked latest price recently). You don't need to pay $700 for 160x120 resolution anymore. I think you can even get 320x240 from one of the competing products. But this camera was a SWIR camera, not LWIR. Thermal camera tech is becoming very affordable, but SWIR is still expensive, which is why I'm sad to see this company is probably gone. Their website shows no press releases in 2020 at all, which is probably bad news.

Yes, it was a nice idea and I would have bought that camera, it was just still quite expensive. I'm sad too.

Wait if no one would buy at $1000, them why just hold them?

They should try to sell at much lower profit margin. Unless that was the at cost level. Then I do see a problem.

Well if they clear them out let us know. But I don't have any available funds now. So then most likely will be cleared out soon. That seems to be the way.

BeyonSense offers a compact SWIR camera, sensitive from 420 to 1650 nm (in the datasheet they specify 400-1600 nm), with 128x128 resolution, for $1,699. For that price, you also get a SWIR lens (looks to be C-mount), a power cable and a mini tripod.

 

According to the datasheet, the camera records >10 fps, and the lens has an aperture range of f/1.4 to f/16, so it's quite fast.

This camera is called "BeyonSense 1". Maybe version 2 (with hopefully higher resolution) will come in the future?

There is company in my country and as well Belarus that is selling silicon based sensor USB camera's that has extended sensitivity to infrared and limited detection of SWIR spectrum - 400-1700nm. I asked company also if this camera can also detect UV and they told yes. They also have image intensifier tube based viewers that can detect 350-2000nm. https://www.ir-viewers.com/

 

They sent painting photo both using SWIR CMOS camera (daylight illumination) and visible spectrum samples:
