Avian UV vision

Recommended Posts

Interesting, was a long article to just say less uv passes through the leaves than green light. Thus the reflected UV light difference is used for contrast vision of the birds.

I'm only a chemist, but it often seems to me as if many papers in this area are answers searching for questions.

That's how mathematics is sometimes done! The theory ("answers") progresse beyond the practical applications ("questions") of it. Yet eventually, it seems, the theory explains something somewhere in physics/engineering/etc.

This is an interesting paper, Dave. I read a lot of it, then got a bit bogged down. (But that's ok.)

Speaking of bird vision. This is just being discussed today here: https://www.ultravioletphotography.com/content/index.php/topic/3561-hello-again-and-berry-question/
